About Government Polytechnic (GP), Lucknow
Government Polytechnic Lucknow was founded in 1892 and came under the Technical Education of Uttar Pradesh in India. The institute was initially established as an Industrial School for railway employees. It was renamed as Government Technical Institute (GTI) in 1911. In 1961, the institute's name changed again to its present name Government Polytechnic Lucknow (GPL) and shifted to its current location. The institute is presently located at Faizabad Road, Polytechnic Chauraha which is 12 km away from the Lucknow Junction Railway Station. It is affiliated with the Board of Technical Education Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh (BTEUP). GPL is affiliated with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). It is among the top 10 government polytechnic college in Lucknow.
The organisational heads of the institute include prominent personalities like Yogi Adityanath (CM, Uttar Pradesh), Ashish Patel (Minister of Technical Education, UP), and, Subhash Chand Sharma (Principal Secretary, Technical Education). The principal of the college is Mr Rakesh Verma. The 26-acre campus of Government Polytechnic Lucknow is equipped with all facilities like a green environment, digital classrooms, hostels, mess, and digitised laboratories. To secure admission in Information Technology at Government Polytechnic Lucknow, you have to first meet the eligibility criteria and then take the JEECUP entrance examination. The eligibility criteria are having passed 10+2 with PCM and B/CS with at least 45% marks from a recognised board. A cut off around 70 to 77 is considered good for admission to the institute.
